Our Sustainability Pledge

Environmental Stewardship
Our operations prioritize renewable energy, waste diversion, and responsible resource management. We are committed to reducing landfill waste, improving soil health, and supporting biodiversity in Colorado and beyond.

Innovative Solutions for a Cleaner Planet
We are working to harness cutting-edge, eco-friendly technologies, including our electric skid steer and solar-powered operations, to minimize our carbon footprint and revolutionize the way composting is done.  We are looking for ways to reduce and recycle compost packaging by offering bag take-back programs and seeking alternative packaging solutions.

Building Community Power, Educating and Inspiring Action
We pledge to empower our community with knowledge, tools, and opportunities to take meaningful action for a sustainable future. Through tours and educational events, we can grow awareness and impact, one compost pile at a time.  In our role as hosts of Green Drinks events, we seek to foster collaboration, innovation, and action by bringing together local changemakers to share ideas and inspire collective sustainability efforts.  We take responsibility for the environmental impacts that our business and our industry creates and we support regional and national policy to mitigate those impacts.

Continuous Improvement and Accountability
We are dedicated to tracking, improving, and transparently sharing our sustainability practices, setting ambitious goals to elevate the standard for green businesses in our industry.  As proud members of the Colorado Green Business Network, we are driven by the mission to create a sustainable, circular economy that nurtures people and the environment.

Join us as we turn small actions into powerful transformations, ensuring a greener, healthier world for generations to come.

Sustainability

At Elements Mountain Compost, we are committed to closing the loop on local food with sustainable waste solutions and sustainable business practices.  We work with businesses and residents to reduce their carbon footprint by diverting waste from the landfill and creating nutrient rich soil products.  But we are also committed to scrutinizing our internal operations to reduce our energy use and climate impacts.

Compost Bag Return Program

Don't have a use for the bag your compost came in?  Bring it back to us and we'll reuse it 1-2 times and then recycle the bags once they start to wear out.  Drop your empty bags at a community drop off location, or at our facility at 9270 County Road 140 in Salida.
